ENGLISH: Habu’s surprising answer.

Who is stronger, Sota Fujii, the eight-time champion who “dominated all eight championships”, or Yoshiharu Habu, the JSA chairman, who in his prime was at the time the first professional player in conquest all of the “Seven Crowns (major Shogi Tittles)”?
Which would be stronger in a game between Sota Fujii, the first player in history to win all eight Shogi championships, and Yoshiharu Habu, the President of the Japanese Shogi Federation, who won the ‘Seven Crowns Championship’? What answer did Mr Hanyu give with a smile?

Chairman of the Japanese Shogi Federation, Yoshiharu Hanyu
‘I think that Fujii’s monopoly of the eight crowns is not surprising, in terms of current ability, winning percentage and content.’

On Friday afternoon, JSA Chairman Habu said that Fujii’s eight championships are “unique in the history of the Shogi world”, with almost no rough edges or weaknesses.

He himself won all seven major titles 27 years ago. At the press conference, the following question was asked.

Reporter.
‘Q. What would happen if the seven Hanyu crowns of 27 years ago and the eight Fujii crowns of today were to play against each other?’

President of the Japan Shogi Federation, Yoshiharu Hanyu.
‘A. Aha ha ha ha, I think I couldn’t compete with that at all, but I’m not match for him at all.’

He also expressed his hope that Fujii Hachikan would be a hero to those who are starting to play Shogi and that he would be active for a long time.
